Jared Bridegan News

During a custody dispute, the ex-wife of a Microsoft executive was indicted on a murder charge and accused of planning a killing.
In 2022, Jared Bridegan was shot and killed in front of his 2-year-old daughter.

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced at a news conference on Thursday that the ex-wife of Jared Bridegan, the Florida Microsoft employee who was fatally murdered in front of his 2-year-old daughter in 2022, had been indicted on a charge of first-degree murder.

Nelson stated during a news conference that Shanna Gardner-Fernandez was detained in eastern Washington not long after the grand jury’s indictment was delivered.

Nelson announced, “We will be filing a notice of our intent to seek the death penalty.”

On February 16, 2022, Bridegan stepped out of his black Volkswagen Atlas to remove a discarded tire that was lying in the middle of a Jacksonville Beach road. He was then shot numerous times at close range.

Authorities detained Henry Tenon, 61, in January in connection with the murder of the father-of-four, 33. He was accused of child abuse, accessory after the fact to a capital offense, second-degree murder with a weapon, and conspiracy to commit murder. The police never thought he was acting alone.

Then, in March, Mario Fernandez Saldana, Gardner-Fernandez’s husband at the time, was detained and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to conduct first-degree murder, among other offenses. Tenon previously entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and consented to give a witness statement against Fernandez Saldana, who has entered a not-guilty plea.

Now, Bridegan’s ex-wife, with whom he had a protracted custody battle, is accused of being involved in the slaying that shook Duval County.

“Henry Tenon did not act alone, and Mario Fernandez did not plan alone,” Nelson asserted on Thursday. “And Shanna Gardner’s indictment acknowledges her central and key role in the cold, calculated, and premeditated murder of Jared Bridegan.”

The indictment’s specifics, according to Nelson, would be disclosed through the discovery procedure.

Gardner-Fernandez is currently charged with first-degree murder and faces extradition to Duval County on accusations of conspiracy and child abuse.

Authorities think the tire on the road on February 16 was positioned there to catch Bridegan’s attention so he would stop and get out of the car before he was killed.

According to Jacksonville Beach Police Department Sgt. Tonya Tator, “When officers arrived on the scene, they found the vehicle with the flashers on, and there was a tire up in front of his vehicle in the roadway.”

Shortly after the incident, the heated custody battle between Bridegan and Gardner-Fernandez was first covered by the local media. After divorcing in 2016, they each remarried, but their legal battle continued until Bridegan’s passing.
